What our patients say

Tina Kicklighter

I had a total hysterectomy in my 30s and have relied on HRT ever since. Several years ago, my hormones were way out of balance and I felt and looked awful. I went to see Libby, who put me on bioidentical hormones and treated me for adrenal fatigue. Within months, the change was absolutely amazing. I literally looked at least 10 years younger, I lost a lot of weight and, with her help, I was able to reclaim my life. Libby truly cares about her patients and is passionate about helping women achieve optimal wellness. I can’t recommend her services highly enough.

Kim Kelly

I lived in San Diego, CA prior to transferring to Georgia with my work. In Southern CA, I received exceptional integrative medical care. Once here, I interviewed doctors from Savannah to Jacksonville and was even willing to drive up to 300 miles to receive the care I was accustomed to (and deserve). Fortunately, I found Libby Gibson in my local area. She is the “real deal”, a truly committed informed women’s health care professional whose commitment is not driven by financial gain. Libby has had challenges with her own health which has only increased her commitment to women. So much of the difficulties we experience as we age can be greatly minimized if not entirely avoided with the proper diagnosis and care. I entrust my health care needs entirely to Libby and you can to.

Angela Griffin

When I first came to Libby, I was miserable. I was tired, no energy, anxious, insomnia, and having migraine headaches. I would be up till all hours of the night with hot flashes. I was taking anxiety and antidepressant medications every day. I tried to exercise and watch my diet on a daily basis, but I continued to gain weight. I was seeing a Doctor who gave me hormone pellets and told me I was going through menopause and depression. He never did any type of blood work, just went by my symptoms and what I was telling him. I was having a very difficult time, very frustrated but didn’t feel that I was depressed! I was told that I would never be able to get pregnant, and if I did I would not be able to carry a baby.

FAQs

01.

What is Functional Medicine?

Icon

Functional medicine practitioners take an extensive, individualized approach to diagnosing and managing a patient's health. They understand that the symptoms or side effects of a patient's illness are part of the larger systemic issue. Rather than relying solely on medications for treating symptoms, functional practitioners focus on finding the root cause of an illness. Then, an individualized treatment plan can be developed with the goal of achieving optimal health.

Libby and Jennifer are specially trained and certified to provide individual care to meet your specific needs. We make sure your body is getting the right balance of nutrition, supplements and detoxification. We use comprehensive testing that looks at several markers in your body - in order to give you exactly what it needs. Through this evaluation, we have the opportunity to assess cardiovascular health risk factors, genetic testing, thyroid, hormones, diabetes panels, inflammation markers, autoimmune levels, and even heavy metals, parasites and food sensitivities. With precise analysis we can supplement deficiencies and rid excess from the system - ensuring Improved wellbeing for your current and future health.

02.

Do you treat autoimmune conditions?

Icon

Autoimmune diseases like thyroid disease, rheumatoid arthritis, celiac disease, lupus, IBS, Multiple Sclerosis, and psoriasis, are ailments with limited treatment available from conventional medicine. However, in functional medicine, at SGCOW we believe, among other areas, that the gut flora is a large part of the issue. To help heal the gut lining and prevent future infections, we conduct comprehensive stool testing combined with autoimmune and micronutrient analyses. Sometimes, it’s also necessary we work together to develop an individualized nutrition plan made according to clients' symptoms and lab results. In this way, we can effectively provide tailored care

03.

What is GUT health?

Icon

Gut issues, such as IBS, SIBO, and leaky gut, have been linked to a wide variety of conditions. Poor diet, medications, and toxic elements can all lead to an imbalance in the gut microbiota consisting of beneficial bacteria and pathogenic bacteria that can cause debilitating symptoms. Today's diets are higher in processed foods, sugars/carbs/grains which favor the proliferation of bad bacteria while fiber, vitamins and minerals found in whole-based and organic food promote healthful bacteria. To avoid intestinal disorders that may come with these excesses it is important to stay mindful of our eating habits and prioritize meeting our daily vitamin intake, just as our ancestors did where these substances were absent from meals for centuries.

04.

What’s SGOW approach to Heart disease?

Icon

For Heart disease mainstream medical treatments often use medications like statins, beta blockers and ACE inhibitors to attempt to lower cholesterol, blood pressure or regulate blood sugar. Yet this merely suppresses the symptom, rather than addressing the root cause of the issue. Through our approach we take a holistic view on diagnosis and treatment - evaluating and addressing multiple factors including cholesterol, inflammation, oxidative stress, and genetics. We provide preventative measures for those with family histories at risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke, as well as aggressive treatment plans for those already suffering from diabetes or heart conditions.

05.

Do you treat Mental health?

Icon

Mental health issues have been on the rise in recent years, and it can be difficult to determine the cause. Factors like genetic disposition, environmental toxins, drug/alcohol abuse, and nutrient deficiencies may come into play. Treatments typically involve SSRIs or SNRIs (which alter serotonin and norepinephrine levels) alongside antipsychotics, stimulants, or mood stabilizers. However, this approach often overlooks potential causes for mental health struggles. Functional medicine takes a more holistic approach to mental health treatment by seeking the root cause of psychological difficulties instead of merely treating symptoms with medication that can lead to side effects that interfere with a patient's quality of life.

What is SGCOW approach to Sexual health?

Icon

A vital part of a well balanced life and overall well-being includes having sexual wellness. At SGCOW we can help with sexual enhancement and overall performance for both men and women. A lack of satisfaction can have a serious effect on a person’s health and emotional wellbeing. We utilize cutting edge Peptide therapy, hormone replacement and testosterone therapy to maximize your sexual wellbeing.

SGCOW provides low T therapy and testosterone replacement therapy for men. There are a variety of reasons including age, environment toxins and sedentary lifestyles. Men produce less starting in their early 30’s. Testosterone levels in men decline 1 to 2 percent each year. As a result, weight gain, muscle loss, low libido, difficulty sleeping, low energy, and strength and even depression can develop.  Testosterone therapy and treatment can restore your levels and start to slow down the aging process so you can feel youthful again

07.

What age do you start seeing patients?

Icon

At SGCOW we see children as young as age 5.
